The Tsiri Band Duet consists of Nikos Giousef (musical saw) and Irini Tiniakou (piano).

The Tsiri Band Duet was created in 2010 in Athens. Since then, it has performed in numerous concerts in Greece Philological Association “Parnassus” ,cinema Philip, Alimos Music School, Music Hall “Apanemia , Cultural Halls “Dynamo” and Six D.O.G.S, Koroni Arts Festival 2012 etc.) and in Paris ( in the cathedral Espace Culturel Saint – Sauver de Correntin Celton, and in Halle des Epinettes de Issy Les Moulineaux ).

Apart from performing as a duet, Tsiri Band often collaborates with other soloists (ex. Giorgos Christopoulos-electric guitar, Ilya Algaer – double bass, Stavros Parginos-cello),with jazz-rock musicians as Tilemahos Moussas and Thanos Anestopoulos, and they are also performing as live accompanists in silent films and documentaries ( ex.“The Home Electrical” –cultural hall “Dynamo” 2013, “Keratea”-cinama Philipp 2011, “People stood still…” –Ilioupoli Municipal House, 2014).

The tradition of musical saw playing was transferred from Alexandria to Athens by Elly Deliou , whose student was Nikos Giousef.

The capacity features of this unique tool-instrument, as well as the virtuosity that is demanded in order to produce a sound that resembles to the human voice, are shown through a range of repertoire that includes transcriptions of works of composers from the 18th to the 21st century , from pro-classicism and opera to tango (Purcell, Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Brahms, Satie, Debussy, Massenet, Piazzolla, Puccini, Faure, Sakamoto, Skalkottas, Xenos, Hatzidakis), as well as through improvisation.

A significant feature of their live performances is the use of costumes and make up, which contributes to the identification of the performer’s character and its relationship to an era’s mood and aesthetic.
